A Summer of Brilliant Moneywise Events!
3rd October 2025 12:00:00am

You might have noticed Moneywise looks a little different – we’re so excited about our rebrand and the new chapter it brings for our business. But our new look doesn’t mean our focus has changed: we’re still committed to building your money confidence.
As a Credit Union, not a traditional bank, we will always put you over profit. Our loans and savings accounts are here to help you feel confident about your finances, whether that means paying for essentials or saving up for a well-deserved treat.
This is why we love visiting the local communities that we work in at support events and meet-ups. Take a look at just a few of the brilliant events Moneywise has enjoyed over the last few months and find out why we love being able to chat to our local communities.
Health and Wellbeing event at Wallsend Support Hub – organised by Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust:
What?
A support event for local people to access health and wellbeing information.
Who?
The Moneywise team spoke with over 30 people, while handing out our information leaflets, Household Budget Forms and Stop Loan Sharks information. We also engaged with other local organisations, providing information about our payroll savings services and more.
Why do we love it?
Money worries can have a serious impact on both physical and mental health, so raising awareness of our products can help. One local said: “I wish I’d known about Credit Unions sooner, especially for loans to help with school uniforms costs.”
Peer 2 Peer Financial Education Training at 25K Youth and Community Centre in Redcar:
What? Moneywise has received funding from England’s Illegal Moneylending Team to work in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Council to deliver Peer 2 Peer Financial Education. We’re able to deliver this essential training to 10 schools, charities and youth services across the Redcar area.
Who? The Moneywise team delivered training to 35 Redcar Council youth and community workers. Moneywise has developed a specialist Financial Education Resource Pack, which was given to Redcar Council Youth Service at the end of the training session. This means that the team can continue to deliver financial education to young people.
Why do we love it? We had a number of lovely feedback comments from the youth workers, including: “The session covered all areas of lending, borrowing and saving,” “I have a better understanding of financial languages, so I can explain more to young people,” and “The session made me aware of the benefits of using Moneywise.”
Warm Welcome in Hartburn – organised by Stockton Council:
What?
Community connection, board games, local support and a good cuppa.
Who?
Community Development Officer, Annie, enjoyed a chat with locals about our brilliant loan options.
Why do we love it?
“I find that older people are particularly interested in how Moneywise might help their adult children, as well as extended families and grandchildren. They take our leaflets to pass on to them.” – Annie.
Family Gateway at Howdon Community Hub, Wallsend:
What?
The Bread and Butter Thing were on hand, with a big food shop for just £8.50!
Who?
Annie spoke with over 40 locals, with the aim of helping to boost money confidence.
Why do we love it?
“People with children were particularly interested in our Junior Savings Accounts, as they felt they would help with school activity costs.” – Annie.
Family Fun event at the Hardwick Community Centre, Stockton:
- What? An event for local families and residents, Stockton Council organised free school uniforms, backpacks and toiletries to help with the back-to-school rush.
- Who? The team chatted with multiple locals about our fantastic loan options and household budgets. We also gave out some great Stop Loan Sharks information.
- Why do we love it? “People were interested in our Household Budget Form as they felt they needed to focus on their spending and budgeting. One mum told me that she had to spend over £1,000 on school uniforms for her 3 children. This kind of expense shows why these events are so essential for our communities.” – Annie.
Wellington Square Wellness event in Stockton:
- What? An open-air event for local shoppers, focused on all-round wellness.
- Who? The Moneywise team spoke to a range of locals of all ages, from various backgrounds. We had some great chats about household budgets and avoiding loan sharks.
- Why do we love it? “Moneywise has been a great help to me and supported me and my family during crises. You were there for me and relieved my struggle. Thank you so much.” – Local resident and Moneywise member.
